The 21st Century have given us a plethora of computer driven art, literature, and music in recent years rendering creativity obsolete.
The question becomes: How to integrate the artist into the 9 to 5 world?
Dr. Borg Swayze, Professor of Social Conformity at Midland City College had this to say, "Artists aren't like you and I; they rise in the mid-afternoon, stumble around their little bohemian hovels, and slink off into the dusk to frequent their jazz bars and opium dens until the wee hours of the morning. Positive reinforcement, a pat on the back, an 'atta boy!', or cash are usually effective means of training a prospective laborer.
"Negative reinforcement, such as suspensions or write-ups, do more harm than good as it will drive the artist back into it's imaginary world where they will paint a picture depicting you as a tyrant, or write a novel about repression or a protest song, or God help us express their disaffectation through interpretive dance."
"To sum up: if you find a starving artist huddled at your business door, take it in and nurture it, don't worry it with tax forms or time-clocks or other minutae; just give it money and one day you will be rewarded for you patronage exponentially."
