Letter from Stock Shareholder G. Google to Terry Semel
Dear Terry,
For the past six years, you've played an incredibly vital role in keeping Yahoo! behind Google using every measurable metric. You've always done what you think best for Yahoo! and though that sounds like a left-handed compliment (who doesn't do what they think is best) we think you could have done what's wrong for Yahoo! if we had paid you a dollar less than $231 million. Thank God we didn't do that!
We are incredibly fortunate to have - with Jerry and Sue - two uniquely gifted executives who are exactly what the company needs to build on the progress we've made in recent months. So again, thank you for being a John Scully to Steve Jobs. But cheer up, you can't do any worse in the future than Scully. For starters, you now have more money.
