Johnny Knoxville, star of Jackass, has agreed to play the role of Moe in the new Fox Studios movie, The Three Stooges. "He's perfect for the part," claims Bobby Farrelly, who, together with his brother, Peter, is in the process of casting for their updated version of the old-timey slapstick television show.
In addition, Mel Gibson has tentatively agreed to play the role of Larry. "Gibson's frontal male pattern baldness makes him a perfect match for the character Larry. In addition, when Gibson gets angry on set, there's not a dry eye in the place. He's just that funny," said Bobby Farrelly. "Now all we need to do is find us a Curly."
The Farrelly brothers are seriously considering casting Steve Harvey as a black Curly. "The fact that the stooges aren't brothers makes it easy for us to play around a bit with the original casting of all white guys. Steve [Harvey] is a riot, and when we asked him to say the words 'nyeah, wise guy, eh?' he literally cracked us up."
Filming for The Three Stooges is expected to begin sometime this summer and, if their other movies are any indication, it'll be as sophomoric and idiotic as its lead actor, Knoxville.
