TV chef James Martin was recovering today after losing his cool during his weekly show Saturday Kitchen.
Although he managed to appear in control, he was constantly having to try to cool down as his guest, actress Amanda Burton, was not wearing socks.
A show insider told us: "Rehearsals went as smooth as you like but everything started to go wrong towards the start of the show at 10am.
"James was in make up when the driver arrived with Amanda. Nothing happened until James got up to greet Amanda and he sort of went all gooey and speechless.
"He ran off to the green room and started shaking. One of the producers went after him to find out what was wrong.
"Apparently he managed to gibber, 'No socks - ooh those feet. No socks... mummy!' He really was all in a lather.
"Everyone was really worried because the show has the piece when James does a one-to-one with the guest. There was no way he could concentrate on his deep-fried chicken while Amanda's dainty little toes were peeping out at him!
"But Jimmy's a pro and he managed somehow, but he was shaky for the rest of the morning.
"In between live segments and straight after the show he had to go for a lie down."
