"He Was An Original!"

Gumby's animator Art Clokey, who created the bendable Gumby and his horse, Pokey, has died at the age of 88, in Los Angeles.

Not that Pokey has died. He is Clokey's creation of a horse made of clay. He is still around, but must be in his 70's by now.

The popular cartoons were first shown on the old "Howdy Doody Show" back in the 1950's.

Gumby once stated that he had created Clokey...uh, Pokey while still at school and that his mother and dad influenced how Pokey had shaped Gumby's body.

"My daddy had a hairlick that sloped his hair to one side so I gave Pokey that look", Gumby once said. "Mother wanted Clokey's body to be shaped like a gingerbread man. That's why he was flat."

Pokey will be remembered by a lot of Boomers for his early work on the old black & white TV's of their childhood days. Gumby has also brought back Clokey for several revivals since.

"I try to keep the full-colored Clokey as close to the B/W version as possible", Pokey stated in a 2002 article in 'Movable Art Magazine'.

According to Clokey, no funeral arrangements for Gumby have been made...I mean Pokey.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
