At a press conference today Oprah Winfrey thanked Rod Blagojevich for stating that he had thought of naming her to the vacated Senate seat in Illinois.
She said that while she was "flattered," she could really not afford the pay cut that an appointment to Congress would entail and because she has several multi-billion dollar multi-national companies that she actively manages: television, publishing books and magazines, product marketing etc., serving as a senator would be boring and confining to her entrepreneurial spirit, though she realizes that it is a tough and necessary job in the public sector and that she admires anyone who has to do it.
Oprah added, returning the favor, that she would have selected Blagojevich to be her pool boy because he has inspiring hair and jogs a lot, is in good shape, and could probably be a good life guard who could save her important pool guests if there ever was a mishap.
