Dallas, TX - After a long afternoon, Kimberly Thompson came home with a severe headache. "It felt like my head was going to split in two!" remarks Kimberly. "I went into the bathroom to wash my face and go to bed. When I turned the faucet handle, it squeaked so loud that I had to cover my ears." Kimberly's husband, David was in the next room when Kimberly came out of the bathroom insisting that he "Go and get UB-40 for me."
David quickly went to the kitchen and called the Arista Records office. After being transferred several times, David finally got in touch with the band's manager. "UB-40 hasn't performed in quite a while, so they were eager to jump on any gig they could get!" says the manager, Thomas Brolin.
Within a few hours, a tour bus arrived in the driveway. "Right this way fellows," instructed David Thompson "The master bathroom is back this way." After they set up their gear, they played acoustic versions of 'I can't help falling in love with you' and 'red red wine' and an encore electric remix of 'higher ground.' "I do what I can to make my wife happy, she wanted to hear UB-40, and I was just glad they didn't have any schedule conflicts." says David.
"That was so nice of Dave to have those guys come in and sing for us, but he still hasn't fixed the squeak!" vents Kimberly. "It's like I'm speaking another language… every time I ask him for something simple, he completely ignores me, and does his own thing... I should have just gone to the store and bought my own can of UB-40."
