Delicious pop diva Mariah Carey came unstuck last week as she arrived two hours late for her London album launch. The pop princess allegedly dismissed her late arrival as 'one of those things,' but it has emerged that Miss Carey was stuck in a London taxi for 3 hours 22 minutes as a result of her own PR stunt.
The decision to close Oxford Street for the launch was at first considered by her 'people' a fantastic coup, however this decision proved to be an embarrassing mistake as the taxi she was riding in, hit the traffic this road closure caused, resulting in the buxom brunette's late arrival.
The nightmare of the taxi ride was compounded when the taxi driver failed to recognise her and launched into a tirade of abuse regarding the "egos of celebrities and their inability to make a decent living which always affects the man on the street."
Sources close to the singer revealed this tale of woe in the airport as the star was due to fly home with her entourage of 47 hairdressers, 17 security staff, 2 Managers, 12 assistants, 3 luggage carriers, 1 dog maintenance supervisor and 3 costume designers. Claiming that the star was not paying enough attention to her staff the disgruntled employee of MC claimed "it's all a big cover up; she never cares about us and needs to be bought down a peg or two."
"The album launch couldn't have gone worse for her, she arrived late because the routes were jammed and the driver kept cursing at the road and blaming celebrities for messing with his livelihood not knowing the reason for the trouble was in the back of his cab. She was really scared because he was getting angrier and angrier!"
It certainly seems that in this case the Mariah's fame got the better of her but in the future her legions of fans will be able to sleep safe in the knowledge that this Divas day is not done and thanks to her ample talents Mariah will bounce back.
