A Lansing Michigan pet store owner reported to police that a woman absconded with a 20 inch baby boa constrictor, priced at $180, by slipping the reptile into her hot pants.
"Audacious!" was all that assistant manager Jazun Boget could say about the unusual theft, "I wish I had thought of it or, I should say, had the nerve to try it!"
Police detective, Dick Long questioned the witnesses suspecting an inside job: "How does a woman wearing hot pants get a 20" snake out of a pet store in her pants? I've been in many a lady's pants and there just isn't room for a boa constrictor, even if it's baby! Or my name is not Detective Dick Long."
Pet store owner, Lotta Rheum-Downdair said that she was worried for the woman more than the snake: "These critters like to wriggle about in warm, wet, dark places and they can do that for days on end. Your average Michigoan may not have the tolerance for such things!"
