It was supposed to be a routine chest X-Ray, but for Tonight Show host Jay Leno, the result was exposure to a dangerously high level of radiation.
Leno had been feeling a little under the weather and suspected that he might have pneumonia. He went to the doctor and was referred to a Santa Monica Hospital for a chest x-ray and some lab work. Apparently, the x-ray machine went into some kind of hyper-drive mode and delivered a dose of radiation far in excess of that which is considered safe.
Leno is taking it all in stride, even making jokes about the ordeal. "Hey, at least it killed the pneumonia. I feel great."
