Honolulu - (Ironic Press): An ironic twist of fate has sealed a week dominated by headlines linking Don (Imus) and Ho (Nappy-headed variety) with the news that 'Tiny Bubbles' crooner Don Ho has died at the age of 76.
The Waikiki entertainer had been plagued by heart problems for many years which some showbiz sources have claimed may have been exacerbated during the last ten days by media attention on the US shock-jock fired for his racist Ho remarks.
An earlier casualty of that fallout is New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine who ended up in hospital fracture clinic following a bizarre car crash that interrupted his scheduled mediation meeting between Imus and the Rutgers University women's netball team whom he had racially slimed on his show.
Don Ho, who was of Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and German extraction, is mostly remembered for his 1966 smash hit 'Tiny Bubbles'.
The lyrics of that signature song have now been immortalised by Don Imus saga commentators:
"Tiny bubbles/in the whine/make me nappy/make me feel a swine."
Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle said Ho created a legacy that will inspire future generations.
"We have lost a true island treasure," she said.
