The latest reports are that in a bid to shake up the ratings war, Coronation Street will be attempting to do comedy later this year. The announcement comes after threats from southern sister ‘Eastenders' to reinstate Barbara Windsor as queen of carry on.
Bosses on the street have said ‘we aren't really sure what we are doing in terms of comedy, but one things for sure if Eastenders are doing it we have no choice but to follow suit'. When asked would they jump off a cliff if Eastenders were doing it he replied ‘if it'll win awards…'
The mad cap action and hilarity is set to hit our screens later this year between now and Christmas. Storylines such as Eileen and her magic pigeon, Fizz, Kevin and a chitty, chitty… style car escapade and the obvious trip to Blackpool to try and kidnap baby Tommy involving Jack, Tyrone and Vera have been mentioned in our office, but we aren't really sure of what will be happening in the real life of soap - Er! We aren't a TV guide.
The cast of Coronation Street are said to be delighted with the new direction that the show will be taking, they have been getting a bit bored with the constant ‘act as if its real life' mantra that has been forced upon them in recent years, they'd rather have the opportunity to take part in some wild and ‘out there' storylines with the possibility of being able to wear a clown suit, or wave a rubber mallet around.
