The Fox network (not actually run by a small woodland dwelling animal as previously thought) has commissioned a new TV series based in Gotham city! The place of course were everyone's favourite "Dark Knight" resides, unfortunately Batman will not be making an appearance in a show based in his home town.
The show will be based on Commissioner Gordon hunting down criminals, not as a superhero, but as a normal police officer! Which is exactly what TV needs, another cop show without Batman.
Back and to the Left news looks at some other mooted pointless TV shows that are in the pipeline for film to TV adaptations.
Spiderman - The Mary Jane Chronicles
A ten part series that follows Spiderman's love interest the sweet Mary Jane as she tries to make her name in showbiz! Watch as she fights with unscrupulous agents, sexist casting directors and bitchy co-stars. Superhero fights are replaced by long drawn out sequences where Mary Jane struggles with her lines and sexuality. Still probably better than Spiderman 3.
GI JOE - The Accounts Of COBRA
Feature length docudrama set in the accounting office of the international terrorist group COBRA. It follows the life and times a junior accountant trying to convince his bosses that all their elaborate schemes cost a large amount of money and that they can't realistically afford it. The nameless accountant juggles trying to justify green lighting grenades on expenses accounts while keeping COBRAS main shareholders happy.
Jar Jar Sinks
An intense look at Jar Jar Binks doomed ambassadorial role in the galactic senate. His heavy handed libertarian views do not go down well in a universe populated by Sith Lords. Mercifully murdered at the end of the series by a young padawan Jedi. Due to copy write laws there will be no appearance of light sabres in the entire series.
Hopefully the powers that be will realise that without the main characters input the audience's reaction wanes. Unless of course you're making a porn parody of something, then you can do what you want.
