Despite the sea of controversy surrounding Paula Deen and the abundance of sponsors who have decided to drop her, two Deen-themed cruises are still set to sail in 2014.
Literature recently mailed out to prospective passengers specifically stated that negroes, Jews, American Indians, and non-US citizens, and that those of Irish, Italian, German, and certain Scandinavian descent would be excluded from the cruises.
Mrs. Deen, in an interview on Good Morning America, when asked about the cruises. answered. "Darlin, I am trying to keep the makeup of the passenger list as diverse as possible, white protestants from all sections of the country, North, South, East and West. I recently learned that the Captain of the Celebrity Reflection is a foreigner, and the steamship line assured me they would find a qualified white American officer to Captain the ship."
She originally complained about the crew being comprised mainly of Filipinos, but relented when the Stevedore Union indicated that they had instructed all housekeeping personnel to not speak at all, and that they try to act white.
Paula later admitted that she chose that shipping line because their ships were painted white.
