In a last minute bid to ward off the rising effects of financial squeeze from the world wide credit crunch British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has listed the entire UK economy and its vast assets on the internet trading site, EBAY. Mr Brown said the listing was necessary because people all over the country were starting to hurt financially and he felt a social responsibility to move affirmatively in rescuing the voters.
Mr Brown has signalled a starting bid of $20,000 for UK Inc on the website, listed just below a random trade advertisement for edible condoms. Among the attractive features advertised are one historical Houses of Assembly, namely Westminster, a regal multi room apartment (Buckingham Palace) and a large recreational plaything (the London eye). Financial advisers say that the move is an interesting selection and indicates great enterprise on the PM's behalf.
NB At last report there had been 3 bids on the EBAY advertisement including one from a G W Bush of Dallas Texas.
