The one star bandit got about every snippet today, even some not out for view yet. Does he/she just not like snippets or is anyone catching them on their articles, jokes?

Hi Bureau,

Nice to hear from you.

This one-starring thing happens to all of us. I had somebody work some way into my story history recently and one star loads of stories.

I can only give you my slant on this.

If somebody likes your stuff they'll give you 3, 4, or 5 stars, which is great. If they really object to what you're saying they might one star you as a protest. It doesn't really bother me either way, because I feel I'm provoking a reaction. Good or bad. Whatever.

For example, Michael Jackson fans probably trawled every MJ story and one starred them all, irrespective of who wrote them. They're MJ fans and it pisses them off that some of us could be so irreverent towards their 'hero'

It does bother some writers, but frankly I give not a shit.

The way I do it when I read other people's stuff is, if I don't think it warrants the rating it already has, then I won't rate it. I'm not in the business of stifling creativity.

If a story or snippet has one star and I think it deserves better, then I'll mark it up.

I've rated several of your snippets Bureau. Never less than 5* one-liners if memory serves.

Respectfully

Skoob.

Thanks Skoob,

I wasn't complaining about my snippets being one-starred but EVERY snippet was one-starred for at least ten pages that everyone had put on here.

Plus how does he/she get to snippets you haven't gotten printed yet?

I'm not the best at understanding how these things work so I could easily be overlooking something.

I don't really care about the guy honestly thinking something is trash, quite a bit is trash, but to just go through a whole group of writers like that, doesn't make sense. I don't even think they were read.

It's probably just jealousy Bureau.

You're always high in the chart, and maybe some people resent that. If you let them get to you, they win, you lose.

Fuck 'em.

Just carry on doing what you do best and don't let them get to you.

You'll do for me

As far as reading snippets before you can even see them posted yourself, I've had stories rated before I can access them on the main site. I spoke to Morse about this once, and he told that on either side of the Atlantic stories get put up in the categories/archive at different times. Ask Mark Lowton for advice on that one. He's accessable and usually works hard to help.

All The Best Bureau.

Sorry for banging on.

By clicking on your profile and trawling through the bit that says 'Snippets'....?

The alternative - that it's Mark Lowton or somebody who's hacked into his Logins - somewhat preposterous....

By the exact date, it'll be Swine Flu season so they'll probably forbid parties.

Can't believe the number of articles you have on here. I rely heavily on the snippets, Hollywood & Twilight. Most of my others get few views.

Wonder what's the average age of Spoof readers? Must be pretty young by the articles that get the clicks.

Average age?

I reckon most of us are 'Silver Surfers'

Thanks QM, am I embarrassed. I had checked the articles and magazines which you can't foresee except for the latest one written, but the jokes and snippets go right to the item.

Shows I'm still in my first year here.

Sorry, I'm still in my prime, old chap.

But even so, I still can't work out what is going on here.

And the one star twat can just fuck off!

There, that ought to get me one starred for a bit.
