Never knew you liked Roman History.

Mrs Skoob and I honeymooned in Rome.

I brought along a chisel and a lump hammer.

I was going to chisel "Skoob Was Here" on the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the Temple Of The Vestal Virgins in the Foro Romano, The Spanish Steps, The Trevi Fountain, and St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City.

But Mrs Skoob told me to 'behave!'

So I went down to Trajan's Market and chiselled one out there while nobody was looking.

Skoob.

VC showing your age, just listening to the magic Sonic Youth, excellent!

Shirley Temple films made me cry too!

You do not have to be old to like old things.

I also like Egyptology, Roman History and Buck's jokes.

Did I say I liked Buck's jokes?

Ancient history never turned me on, but I had a delicious history teacher, tended to drop my pencil in the hope she would bend over and pick it up!

If every tourist for the past two thousand years chiselled away a piece of Roman Architecture then what would happen?

Well I guess that explains it.

Whoa there!

The hammer and chisel thing was a joke!

Rome is my favourite city in the world, for a variety of reasons, not least its antiquities. Did you know for example that the 2,000 year old Pantheon is the oldest known example of a concrete roof? Did you know that it's exactly as wide as it is high? That a ball would touch each wall and ceiling to floor without being forced?

Or that Bernini's papal altar in St Peter's basilica was constructed from copper stripped from the portico of the Pantheon?

Just asking Doc.

Yes I know these things and have visited them, though I thought the bronze was used for cannon as well.

Would like to be in the Pantheon when it rains through the oculus.

Bernini is great, like his sculptures best.

The temple of Vesta seems to be missing a few stones, do you know anything about this?

Have to agree with Victor on this one.

Too many of the worlds magnificent ancient structures and monuments, such as the colliseum, and the pyramids have been mindlessly vandalised and pillaged for hundreds of years by the type of tourist that feels the need to display a shapeless, meaningless blood soaked lump of rock on the mantle as testament to how 'mad about history' they are.

The Berlin Wall is a classic example.

Should be flogged the lot of them.

Was just responding to this when the computer crashed.

Can't be arsed doing it all over again.

You're both right. I totally agree.

Skoob.

Skoob, stop agreeing, have a POP!

I hate the Pyramids and all ancient monuments they were built on the back of millions of slaves!

No, he actually meant inconsonant, which means that it has loose vowels.
