1. Beatrice Webb

2. Florence Nightingale

3. Emmeline Pankhurst

4. Marti Caine

5. Linda Smith

The last two I always found funny-particularly Linda's appearances on Just a minute.

I thought about Marti Caine too Earl.

Strange.

I remember her as the bubbly comedienne from Yorkshire with an awesome repertoire of devastating one liners and some amazing monologues.

At a time when mother-in-law jokes were all the rage.

She always looked like she'd just dropped in from Vegas, and sounded like she'd just dropped in from Sheffield.

Glad somebody else remembers her.

Regards

Skoob.

Sir Isaac Newton

Stevie Ray Vaughn
Leonardo da Vinci
Pablo Picasso
M.C. Escher
Gregor Mendel
Dmitri Mendeleev
Jesus Christ (yes, I consider him a person)
and Amadou Diallo...

Just to name a few.

Escher, really?

Absolutely! The guy was brilliant.

If you're interested, there's a fascinating book called Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid that explores, among other things, relationships between concepts explored by the mathematian, the artist and the composer.

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot...

Add Johnny Cash to my list.

Wouldn't be my first choice for an artist, consider him an illustrator really.

Many argue Norman Rockwell was an illustrator as well.

That's no discredit to Escher's mastery of several printmaking techniques, incredible craftsmanship, attention to detail, his mathematical intuitiveness, and his unprecedented knack for creating wonderful imaginary realms.

The Strolling Bones certainly play DEAD music, look as if their dead, especially Keith and Charlie but as far as I know only Brian Jones has topped it!

Anyway, Johnny Cash is a super choice, was a man who saw the world the way it relly is and expressed his opinions through his music brilliantly!

SFO, what's up? We agree on some things I'm just about to Kurt Cobain it!

At last but certainly not least, VC has exodused his single line bomb-shell, brilliant and certainly very impressive list!

Being totally anti-politics I refused to list one, but if there was to be one I think Abe would be him or Hitler (coughing on my goebbels!!)

Nancy Wilson!!

Good call! She's probably the most underrated guitarist of the 20th Century.

She and Ann, along with Eddie and Alex Van Halen, are my favorite siblings in the music industry.

Bavarian creme filled for me, or just plain old chocolate frosted.

I've also found that Krispy Kreme is a lot overrated. Good when they are hot and fresh, but too sugary after that.

lol, They were the Irish Founding Fathers or would have been, except for Michail Collins who led the resistance against your evil empire, in the earlier part of the last century.

Thanks for your lesson in Irish history, I'm quite aware of the English abuses, but we are here not to take things quite so seriously!

Hence Jammy Donaght as in Jammy Donut, get it?

BTW this ere Spoofer mate, holds no political or national standings, and what the English did many years ago has been repeated globally before that period and after by nearly every nation including tiny Sri Lanka, etc, so come off of your Rebel high horse and join the fun!
