Well it just shows you how terrorism is worse when it comes from within. Oh, that sounds like something you could write a spoof story about, but no, it's probably already been done.

Mark, I appreciate your response. However, if the Harry Maguire stories are more popular than those written by the rest of us; then the rest of us should swear off writing.

Groucho Marx said it best:

“I don’t care to belong to any club that would have me as a member.”

If Harry Maguire has that many readers, the only way I could compete is by dividing my stories into four sections, and after 100 words, write “to be continued.”

Hopefully, you can figure out a way that is equitable for all.

Yes, I've wondered long and hard (steady in the ranks, ladies!) about what garners 'popularity' with regard to a piece and you have gone some way to explaining the process, Mark.

It's not perfect and it's clearly open to abuse and gerrymandering, but I guess it's a bit like democracy. Not perfect but it beats the hell out of the alternative.

With all the above in mind, and having seen how irritated some writers have become with certain stories being published and read by readers who may not have visited the Spoof before, until they were forced, by their own clicking errors, to read some information that wasn't completely true about Harry Maguire, I have decided that I'm not going to write any more stories on that subject.

I wouldn't want to lose you all as friends.

All comments are fair, QM. I understand that not all readers - or writers - are interested in football or its overpaid primadonnas, and I'll apologise again if some people found it too much.

Thing is, though, the site isn't just for the writers, it's also for the readers. And, as it turned out, there was a market ready to guzzle up what were clearly made-up HM stories, and, when you find a rich vein, isn't it the done thing to snuggle down in there?

Plus, there may now be many more new readers who weren't previously aware of our little garden shed of satire nestling away at the back of Lowton Towers. If so, that wouldn't be a bad thing, would it?

Reminds me of those ‘Miley Cyrus’ days and Britney’s vagina which also attracted gazillions.

Indeed. Harry Maguire must have his day in the Spoof-light. Noel Coward, The Venerable Bede and VDSL vectoring cannot always dominate the Spoofing world as they did in the days when we wrote our Spoofs on papyrus and sent them in via camel-train.

QM, I come in peace, but the fact that someone isn't here 24 hours a day, doesn't mean I've gone AWOL. I spend some time of every day reading and, if necessary, editing stories, but that's where my responsibility ends. Any other business is dealt with by Mark, but life tends to get in the way of attending to the Spoof day in, day out.

Helpful suggestion: I have been making this ‘helpful suggestion’ here in the Forums and in Private Message for the last six months. A technical issue has really fucked up some of my access to parts of this website and continues to rear its ugly head despite my following all the usual suggestions about getting it cleared up.

It has now got so bad it’s fucking up the email I use to log on to this site and I have had to get outside help in to check out the situation.

This expensive external expertise I have had to pay for says the problem is within this website and may have been dormant for a long time, going back several years.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go to. Why don’t you just go away then?
