The Bank of England deputy governor Paul Tucker repeatedly told MPs that he had not been encouraged to lean on ­Barclays to cut its submissions.

That sort of blew apart my campaign to prove that Ed Balls was one of a series of senior Labour figures who tried to "fiddle Libor".

Paul Tucker will have to go!
