Ed Miliband - My Fake Diary
Monday, 30 April 2012
In the Sun on Sunday, I found this revealing little snippet:
Labour MP Tom Watson has told the Sunday Sun of his pride at being asked to speak at this year's Durham Miners' Gala.
Mr Watson said it was the "highest honour" he had received in politics to be asked to speak at the annual event and was looking forward to coming to Durham to the historic gathering on July 14.
Labour leader Ed Miliband is also speaking on the day, which could be seen as the party reconnecting with its traditional roots.
Neil Kinnock was the last Labour leader to speak at the Durham Miners' Gala in 1989 - but Tony Blair and Gordon Brown shunned the event when they were heading up the party.
So, I'll be taking part... just wish someone had told me earlier.
Good idea though!
