Lucy Powell has quit her job as deputy chief of staff, to concentrate on her bid to become an MP.

She's has been selected to stand as the Labour candidate in the Manchester Central parliamentary by-election this autumn.

Now she has stood down from her post with me ahead of the campaign to come!

She has also resigned from her position on Labour's executive board - where I put her in charge of campaigns, party and political relations earlier this year!

Damned traitor!
