When the girls and boys involved in making my hugely successful Summer Holiday film got together for a drink and party just after finishing the film, many of us swapped presents.

I remember one giving me a bottle of perfume, and I gave him my holed t-shirt.

On this date in 1958:

It got to number 2 in the UK, and number 5 in Norway as I recall.

Not my style really, but having made Expresso Bongo and had to act tough, it seemed like a good song to record.

And it competed with Elvis's crap of the time.
