I'm guessing that Fergie's soccer team must have lost a game due to a bad call by a French referee? At least, that's what I'm getting from this and another thread.

Ireland got knocked out of the World Cup by France after French striker Thierry Henry blatantly used his hand to control the ball before passing to the French goalscorer.

The Irish FA were furious and demanded a replay but FIFA insisted that the referees decision is final.

It was blatant cheating and the Irish are understandably upset about it.

This has become a full blown diplomatic row already, members of both governments have called for the game to be replayed, apart from the French Leprechaun of course and I've just heard on the radio that Thierry Henry has also called for a replay.

We dont need a neutral venue, Paris would be good enough, they'd probably do us 5 or 6 nil but at least it would be fair. It's called the World Cup, not the biggest TV rights cup.

FIFA are a laughing stock and so are the French Football Federation, Henry's dreams of taking over from Pele as Footballs Pope are in tatters because he's a cheat. A dodgy offside or a dive in the penalty area is one thing but playing basketball on the touchline is stretching it a bit.

All the counties in Ireland are trying to sign him up to play Gaelic Football, the lad's a natural. There are massive points to be had from this story and it will run and run, I cant write one about it, I just cant.

Is it right that there is talk of a replay?

I think that would be a great idea, and that Thierry Henry should be forced to play with his hands tied behind his back to prevent any repeat of last week's 'incident'.
