A young man, Mohammed Al-Mohammed Ahmed, 24 from Baghdad, spontaneously combusted in a market this weekend, killing 23 bystanders.
Iraqi police are baffled at yet another episode of spontaneous combustion, which has troubled the city for the last few years.
Imam Mohammed Al-Ahmed Mohammed said: "I can't understand it. He was a healthy young man and he just exploded. Those Western so-called journalists are claiming he was a suicide bomber, but he was a good boy. He wouldn't have done something like this."
This is the twelfth spontaneous combustion so far this year. The affliction seems to mostly affect young Iraqi men in public places. The Iraqi government has warned people to stay indoors if they feel they are overheating.
