Goya who died on April 16, 1828 in Bordeaux France aged 83 was possibly one of the greatest painters the world has seen. When his remains were exhumed for return to Madrid 60 years later, his head was missing.

Much speculation over the years as to why his head was cut off or its whereabouts have met with no positive explanations.

Late last year a resident shop owner in Bordeaux was cleaning out his attic when he found Goya's head uncased in an old wooden onion box.

"It was tucked away under a pile of old rubbish, I realised who it was immediately, I held it up to the light and straight away I recognised his distinct features".

It was taken to the local Police headquarters for further investigation. A police spokesmen told our roving art reporter that such finds where very infrequent events although Van Gough's ear did turn up one starry night in Amsterdam.

"It was found in a hamburger alongside some cucumber and tomato ketchup".

Goya's head will be laid to rest alongside his body in Spain.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
