Their island paradise vanished, last of the Maldive Islanders Flo and Jock Brokingham decided to pack it in last Friday after getting a soaking standing on their cottage roof.
"We're not altogether unhappy with the climate's decision to forcibly evict us. The country has been going downhill since Natl. Geographic portrayed us in such a bad light, saying we our restaurants were slapdash and customer service was 'miserly'," said Jock wistfully.
Hoping their gas supply will hold out until at least the better part of the Australian continent, the Brokinghams are excited to begin a new life in a hopefully less soggy environment.
"Australia's great Outback sounds nice and dusty." said Flo. " We do blame ourselves, using that air conditioner all the time probably wasn't a good idea after all, we knew the scooter was a polluter also." Admitted Jock.
The Brockinghams were able to sell their coastal Maldives time-share condo at a fair market price before departure.
