Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum stunned the political universe today as they announced they will combine their campaigns and run as one. "We will campaign and govern as Attila the Hun," stated Gingrich.
A reporter from the Associated Press called out, "But Attila the Hun was known as a destroyer of civilizations!"
"You got that right," stated Gingrich.
As constitutional scholars rushed to see if this could, in fact, be done, historians rushed to ascertain why in God's name they would pick Attila as their persona. Gingrich anticipated this and quickly added; "Frankly, for myself, I preferred Beelzebub. This was a compromise." Santorum added, "Frankly, I preferred Tomas de Torquemada, the leader of the Spanish inquisitions, but a goodly percentage of my followers in Alabama and Mississippi wouldn't like it, sounds too foreign.
