Roger Hargreaves, the author of the popular children's books, the Mr Men and Little Misses, has revealed his latest suite of books in the Little Miss section.
Little Miss Place is the story of a forgetful character who can never remember where she put anything. Little Miss Take is the story of a character who gets everything wrong whom some say bears an uncanny resemblance to Cheri Blare, whilst Little Miss Behave is the story of the transformation from naughty to nice of another character who looks remarkably like Naomi Campbell. Little Miss Carry is a moral tale about the justice system failing the main character.
"Roger has got a little political in some of these books," said publisher Randy House. "And yet they remain accessible to children."
To an adult, Little Miss Chief is obviously the cautionary tale of Paris Hilton, whilst Little Miss Direction superficially appears to be a story of a magician's assistant, but given she marries a wealthy dwarf, is probably about Debbie McGee.
"Little Miss Fit appears to be about Madonna," said House. "Incredibly athletic, and yet does not know what category she belongs in. While Little Miss Fortune could be a story about sudden wealth, and yet details the problems that this entails. Written much like Katie Price's life story. He has obviously been drawing on tabloid representation of celebrity women in these stories."
Not all of the stories are about celebrities. Although Little Miss Match could very well be the story of Kate Middleton, Little Miss Print is full of deliberate typos and Little Miss Understood appears to have been translated in and out of Japanese via Swedish.
"We think Roger has been having a bit of a laugh," said House. "I fully expect his next book to be called Little Miss Oginist."
