It has been revealed that three staff from a delivery firm handling the delivery of flu leaflets to all UK households were themselves suffering from swine flu.
'I saw the lad coughing and sneezing,' said Mrs Harris of Islington. In some cases, he did seem to be covering his nose and mouth when he did it, but it was usually with the pile of leaflets he was carrying.'
It is believed the three men, who were working as temps for the courier company, delivered leaflets to the whole North London area. 'If you are in this area,' a Department of Health spokesman said, 'the best thing is not to touch the leaflet at all, as it may be harbouring the potentially lethal pathogen. If you do have to move it, take a large wad of tissues, then catch it, bin it, kill it. We think perhaps putting it on the floor and stamping very hard on it might also kill the bug'
The government is currently organising a campaign to leaflet all affected households with advice on what they should do with the infected leaflet.
