Cleveland - (Disaster Mess): The two adult sons of fraudster canoeist John Darwin have been advised to hire the same firm of lawyers as used by the McCanns after a week of headline news asserting they are 'mere victims' of their parents' deception activities.
Mark and Anthony Darwin have publicly disowned John and Anne Darwin as 'trash parents' after the couple were remanded in custody until mid-January following fraud and insurance theft charges last week.
The 32 and 29 year old Darwin sons initially insisted they had no idea their father had done a dodgy runner in December 2002 so that his wife could claim a hefty wedge of life insurance payouts to settle some excessive gambling debts secured on the matrimonial home in Hartlepool.
Last week they told UK reporters they had 'dumped' their parents and would be having no more contact with them ever again after being deceived about the faked canoe death of their father John.
"Their choice of lawyers this week is interesting, however," a Cleveland Police source said today.
"We aren't actually saying Mark and Anthony Darwin are Hartlepool's equivalent of the arguido status, at the moment.
"But why would anybody in their position pick the McCann's legal firm to represent their interests?"
Why indeed.
