Cookery superstar Delia Smith and well-known German cannibal Armin Meiwes have teamed up to create a new TV series and cookery book - Delia's Long Pig Recipes.
Says Delia: " I know I gave up cookery programmes and books to devote my time to Norwich City Football Club. And for a while I enjoyed it. Down in the changing rooms, swabbing out the showers, sniffing used.....But to be honest there's a limit to how much a nice middle class girl like me can get out of sweaty apes chasing a testicle around a meadow. I was looking for a way back into the money-spinning world of TV cookery."
"And then along came Armin. The trial transcripts were a revelation. Ultra fresh ingredients, home butchery, and then straight from the slab to the pan - all on video. I don't mind saying I was fucking furious! Everything I wanted to do - even if it was in German!"
Meiwes was equally ecstatic. "I'd never heard of Delia, of course - in Germany all we had was Fanny and Johnny with subtitles. But as soon as I found out who she was I was up for it. After all, she's never done human, and I've never done goat's cheese. So it seemed a natural collaboration. You won't believe what delicious recipes for Long Pig we've cooked up. In fact you'll love them all!"
The new series of "Delia's Long Pig Recipes" will be broadcast on BBC2 this autumn. In the meantime if you would like to volunteer to be an ingredient log on to www.smithinnairds.co.uk and follow the links to 'gobble me please'.
