Laurie Penny has won the 2011 Spoof Action Girl of the Year Award.
The announcement was made last night at a big party in London, in recognition of her great works in the field of riot coverage.
Courageous Penny has attended every riot, protest and political argument this year that she possibly could, and she has done it with style. She also coined the Revolutionary battle cry " Damn, I've lost, my eyeliner. The Revolution will have to continue unlined." But it didn't hinder her. She carried on, and she made a difference.
The prize, of course, is an imaginary Golden Spoof Statuette of the map of Britain, which has to be used in the traditional way, as a paperweight or a door stop.
Messages of congratulations have been pouring into the Spoof Office all night from global heroes like The Dalai Lama and The King of Svalbard.
Laurie Penny is a national treasure. She's the new Kirsty Wark. She deserves your respect.
