Paula Radcliffe, the British marathon runner who burst into tears when she broke down 'injured' during the Olympic Marathon in Beijing in the summer, has stopped crying, say sources in the US.
Radcliffe was competing in the New York Marathon where she had already won the race in 2004 and 2007, and started today's event sobbing uncontrollably, as is her habit. As the race progressed, however, her sobs became whimpers, which, in turn, became sniffles and as she crossed the finishing line first, she was declared 'dry', much to the relief of the crowd, who had feared more pathetic scenes and woeful excuses.
It's the first time the Monaco-based tax exile has managed to 'turn off the tap' since Beijing, and hopefully, we now won't hear from her again until the 2012 Olympics in London, which is certain to be an emotional time for her.
