Dummy Love

She's the pride of the ladies down on Depot Street
They dress her up in a white wedding gown
She stands in the window
next to the cars and street
In the second hand store
at the middle of town

She waits in the window for her man-ne-quin
To pick her up and take her for a drive
Just a little stiff, but nothing a little wine won't cure
Painted on make-up
She was never meant to cry

(chorus) So drive me out of this town
put me in the fast lane
I can sell anything that you put me in
And you'll never hear me complain
I wear swimsuits and cowboy boots
And blouses (blazers) colorful or plain
And in the summer months just dress me down
'Cause I never put on weight

She's waiting for the man with a real slow hand
Descended from statues in a foreign land
They don't need no Valium or Viagra
'cause they're already there
so laid back in their Barbie tans

And her man-ne-quin he's so hard that they never sleep
May as well be a bed of rocks with that drivin' man
And the day comes early when they?re fast asleep
Got to start the coffee
Go to the can

He's got a job down at Montgomery Ward
Wearin' suits by Pierre Cardin
He likes it alright
But you know where he'd rather be
With his hand-me-down bride
In the back of a van
