In 2007, Eminem said his career was in limbo. Sadly, for those of us with ears, Em has since "Relapsed" and is now in "Recovery."
And, while Eminem currently holds Billboard's #1 position with 'Love The Way You Lie', he believes there are plenty of other songs that are much better.
"Yeah, my song blows," said Eminem. "I haven't changed my sound since 1999, so everything sounds derivative. I've become a caricature of myself."
'California Gurls', the nearly unlistenable 4 minutes of Katy Perry's caterwauling rescued by a phoned-in rap by Snoop Dogg, which is currently in the number 2, is a much better song, according to Eminem.
"I mean, at least she sounds sincere," says Eminem, between swigs of Metamucil. "My lyrics are, like, 'if she ever tries to f--ing leave again i'ma tie her to the bed' Come on, who believes that? I'm a 45 year-old multimillionaire. I ain't setting nobody on fire."
Eminem's song features Rhianna, an artist Em had no desire to work with.
"Nah. I think she's terrible," claims Em. "But I put her vocals on the first 30 seconds, so people didn't turn the station right away."
Eminem also says he wishes he could rewrite some of the lyrics: "Yeah, I'd remove the Nintendo reference. My granddaughter told me that Nintendo isn't hot anymore. Atari, I guess, is what the kids are playing now, right?"
