(Hollywood) – Writer and actor Tyler Perry has announced that he will remake the 1970s hit movie ‘Smokey and the Bandit’.

The original featured Burt Reynolds (Bandit) and Jerry Reed trying to get a truckload of beer from Texas to Georgia. Along the way they pick up hitch-hiker/runaway bride Sally Field. Jackie Gleason also featured as a Texas sheriff (Smokey) on their tail.

Perry plans on playing the lead role of Bandit as well as the Sally Field role. Denzel Washington is slated to play the trucker role previously portrayed by Reed. Mike Tyson will take over the Gleason role.

Perry on the movie: “I plan to make Smokey and the Bandit a comedy this time. I just love the idea of Madea as a runaway bride. And when Mike Tyson tells you he is going to punch your mama in the mouth, that is pure gold.”

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
