The statue of famous 1950's singer Buddy Holly in Lubbock, Texas has demanded to be traded to another city due to lack of playing time. Said the statue, "I'm from here and the radio stations don't even play my stuff any more. I have stood out in the weather for years, getting pooped on by pigeons and peed on by dogs, but do people care?
"They make a movie about Richie Valens and suddenly the whole world loved La Bamba again. When they made a movie about me, did everyone start playing Peggy Sue? I got played by Gary Busey. You think putting nerd glasses on an actor makes him look like me? At least Richie got to be played by Lou Diamond Phillips, and all the girls loved him. You know who played me in La Bamba? No one does! The guy only made two movies!
"Then, they make a movie with Kathleen Turner and Nicolas Cage called Peggy Sue Got Married. I never wrote any song about her getting married, I just sang about loving her!
"I die in the same plane crash as Richie and The Big Bopper and they call it the day the music died. Well, it apparently stated dead in the panhandle!
"Nowadays, everyone in Lubbock is cheering basketball and all they care about is Bobby Knight breaking some coaching record. They don't care about me any more! I'm no longer the favorite son."
When asked if he would ever return to Lubbock, Holly responded by saying "That'll be the day!"
