Born Dick A. Cat in 1964, he had little literary success writing under that name, so now writes under the pseudonym 'Nick J. Moose'.
His literary skills were honed by translation of the whole of Tolstoy's work into Russian. This met with scant approval in Russia, where it was widely felt that Tolstoy's own Russian was marginally better.
Moose's book on fly fishing, entitled 'Otter Baiting', was hugely successful despite its misleading title, whilst his latest novel 'Don't throw it out Granny' explores the twin issues of issues and twins.
