I can list many writers here who are funny. Many. Some do very good satire, some do some really good misleading headlines, some lampoon conspiracy theories.

Every ones perception of 'funny' is different.

Some people think the Chuckle Brothers are funny. Others don't.

Some think Ricky Gervais is funny. Most don't.

Peter Kaye? Funny - but just rehashing Les Dawson jokes. Seinfeld - yes great comic but his stand up is not cracking.

George Carlin - Ken Dodd. One man's favorite the other a man with a tickle stick.

It is impossible to please everyone - impossible.

For people (including to me) to say something is funny or not funny is actually not correct. It is an opinion.

Problem is, if you start criticizing to the point of putting people off contributing, prepare for your own work to be scrutinized.

Best thing is, just write your articles, magazines and jokes etc, not go out of your way to attack another writer's efforts in the forums and just have fun.

In summary, just try not to be a cunt.(In my opinion).

I don't give a shit what so and so writes, it does not affect me, I do my own thing, they do theirs. Live and let live.

I agree with me old mate Dunc, it's all a matter of taste, however bad is bad and there's a lot of it here, sadly!

I think you'll find that's 'Erskin'.

Sorry to be pedantic.

Maybe Victor was agreeing with Erskine after all, and not me. Not that I am Erskin either, actually. Well, I might be, some of the time.

Identity, eh, what can you do with it?

Symptoms? What?

Ah, but what is schizophrenia, eh? A disease, a mere symptom cluster, a cultural label born of evil control?

It wouldn't be entirely surprising if my mental health was suffering currently, actually, as - I won't go into details, but - life is pretty much hell in EQ-land right now, and 'things fall apart; the centre cannot hold' seems apt.

But, hey, at least none of this has any lasting reality. We have that consolation.

There should be a Home For Funny Writers. Probably somewhere in West Sussex, near Rottingdean.

Failing that, a Home For Unfunny Writers Who Wish They Were Funny, in much the same place.

There, that satisfies everybody.
