I think that number is the spoofiest thing about the site. At one time, when it was first introduced, the numbers were in the hundreds of thousands.

Pay no attention.

There has definitely been an upsurge in the number of writers of late, publishing some really funny stuff.

I admit I'm finding it hard to keep up, but I'm trying!

Also, since I fixed the link, Twitter has definitely been bringing a lot of new people here which is awesome. Thanked, I'm sure, by the interesting and funny stories.

Of the satire/humor sites on the web today, this one; The Spoof, is one of the most active... with visitors coming from all quarters.

I have always wanted to expand my writing base but between when I left here in the spring of 2010 until now, life took me another direction. There was no choice... it was family.

Coming back has been a trial in remembering how to have fun, to frolic and how to take the daily grind of life/news/headlines etc. and turn it all inside out.

The world right now is going to hell all around us... so, just my opinion but, if it someday does go down the drain, I'd rather go smiling...

it is pleasing to hear that the only way is up. Of course The Spoof needs fresh blood and established writers, this combination will I'm sure, succeed.

The Spoof has had a mega dip, lost lots of superb writers and colleagues, however it is a mirror of modern day social networking; here today and gone tomorrow.

Jag -

Your comment has me curious... if that's okay.

Considering the tidal effect this world submits upon all of us... would you, or could you connect the need for humor with the nature of what was happening around us at any given moment?

Like I said... just curious and looking for other opinions.

most certainly, without satire or humour, stand-up comedians, etc, willing to have a pop at the state of our society in general, the world would be even worse off.

Those who submit here have a fundamental role to play in the greater picture of things because people need to smile, laugh and be entertained and also need to be told the TRUTH behind the misery in a spoof or satirical form.

The junk reporting in our daily tabloids, newspapers and TV outlets are upheld by global conglomerates paying for the pleasure of spreading such misery. Hence, perpetrating the whole thing into global scaremongering and selling their products.

My son who studied marketing once said: The world has every access to information possible, but sadly people have become
more ignorant because they do not think anymore, they just swallow!

Satirists, comedians, etc, make people laugh at themselves because ultimately we are all to blame for the misery in some way or another.

But do those laughing at themselves actually understand what the satirist or comedian, etc, is attempting to achieve? I think not, because it is here today and gone tomorrow as mentioned before.

I resent this accusation, Jaggedone. I feel I am in no way responsible for the misery, and would ask you to make an immediate apology.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas.

Come now Mr Woods, you have to accept at least some of the blame.

What about all those poor Bangkokian children? It makes me sick.

MW, I understand your protest and refer you to our honourable editor, who has hit the nail on the head.

However, being a Hull City or Tommy Tigers fan or whatever they are called, it is understandable that one is prepared to Pontius Pilate all accusations...

Kind Regards from Holland to all those who frequent Bangkok for nothing else than a cool cock in the tail!

here today and gone tomorrow

But of course. How else could it be? If "things" were not here today and gone tomorrow, then they would be here all the time and everything would be a solid block of stuff, and that wouldn't be any good. The mystery is, how do they get "here" to start with.

EQ, a most honorable summarisation of mind over matter, nothing else BTW...
