It is time for more narwhal news.
Nár means corpse in Old Norse. The similarity of the narwhal's flesh - with its mottled pigmentation - to that of a drowned sailor is said to be behind the name. Narwhals, who have a solid record in the Greenland Masters, have never made a significant impact in Grand Slam tennis tournaments. Neither have they ever progressed to the later stages of the FA Cup, though in 1963 a narwhal team did beat Hartlepools United in the 2nd Round, before losing 9-0 to Wolves at Molineux in the 3rd. The latter game is remarkable for the hat-trick scored by Derek Dougan, who was playing for Aston Villa at the time. Narwhals have always referred to this as the "6-0 game" for this reason. |

Narwhals pottery pieces are said to be some of the rarest in the world, and can fetch a pretty penny, yet as best as can be determined, they have nothing in common with sporting events.

A narwhal almost signed for Stoke City in 1955. That would be the strongest connection between sport, pottery and narwhals that I can find.

The Narwhal tusk is apparently two front teeth that twist together and keep growing. They would probably get the problem seen to but, unfortunately, it prevents them speaking so they can't ask the dentist.

Perhaps they should consider a good dentifrice for their orifice. If more than one narwhal, I would assume good dentifri for their orifi?

in the early 60's I heard whispers round White Hart Lane that Danny Blanchflower had mixed narwhal blood. but always whispers and rumours, never an ounce of proof.. same with Paul Daniels and Vera Lynn.. |
