Why do they say "the color purple" then?

Why not just say "purple"?

It's because that is that colour when it throbs, or color if you can't spell.

Discovery? That channel which shows programs where they chase Saskwatch(?)and ask questions like 'are we alone' or interview some poor woman with a twenty ton tumour on her ovary or voyeuristically report on the 'Human carrot from outer space' who turns out not to be a carrot nor from outer space but some poor Indonesian human with an uncommon disease called Neuroblastoma and who really looks like he's made from tree bark...?
