Arm has inspired me. Let's have a Meet and Greet! All you newcomers or people who've been around but don't care for forums, lets use this thread to get to know one another. Friendly conversations only! Don't freak anyone out. You don't have to become a regular, that's not required, just write a few words and who knows? Might trigger a whole new group of people who like each other, we already have plenty of the other, so let's give it a try!

The thing is....people either join in on the forums or they don't. The people you want to read this most likely aren't reading it. Sorta like PTA meetings and teacher conferenences. The parents you need to come don't show up.
But, maybe I'll be proven wrong. Hope so... Ellie |

Sounds like a good idea to me Jean. It can be very intimidating when one joins and doesn't really know anyone. Particularly when people are talking about things that you are not totally au-fait with. I'm one of the guilty ones for talking about The Dorking Review, which is something that not everyone will be familiar with. That said, there are different threads on any subject that you want to talk about. If you want to talk about something else: Start a thread. Also if you want to know about something that others are talking about you just have to ask. There are sub-groups here, as there is in any organisation. People will tend to comment on styles and genres that are similar to their own. That's normal. I don't comment on humour that doesn't interest me. For me, there's no point. It doesn't mean that it's no good. I just laugh at other things. Everyone has opinions and voices here, and believe it or not there is no hierarchy. Hello, welcome, and if anyone needs to borrow my lawnmower they only have to ask. |

Couldn't agree more Ellie & CM.
Have you got a barbie and some hedge-trimmers I can borrow? |

A barbie? Like in the doll? I have two.... Well, my daughter does! Don't know if she's willing to part with them though. ![]() |

Heh-heh,,, a Bar-B-Q Ellie! (It's Aussie slang - but Sidney B. would know better than me)
Though there's some who seem to think I'd prefer a 'Ken' to a 'Barbie'... ![]() |

Do you want the Swimming Barbie or the Party Barbie?
And will you need Ken, cos if you do, you'll need to see somebody else for that, my Ken is missing presumed dead. [waves to the new comers] Come on in, the water's lovely. It's hallucinogenic. Iain |

I have Han Solo...and we all know he's far cooler and a much better "catch" than Ken! Also a much better catch than Luke for that matter.

Darth without his helmet was pretty cool! But not in a gay way.
Yes I know, those who are here are the ones participating. I remember back in 'o7 when (Not 1907!)I joined it was pretty intimidating and actually quite a bit nastier than it is these days in some way. I still would be interested knowing if there are things we could do with the site for the writers. Maybe we could do a survey and email a link to everyone. |

When I first joined, the forum could be pretty intimidating.
But most people just come here for a laugh. A quick introduction usually helps, and the people on here are always ready to respond to questions etc. I do agree that it isn't nearly as intimidating as it has been occasionally in the past. People come and people go. My advice to those who feel a little reluctant to join in, would be to give it a go. Or PM a couple of those who do participate, ask them about their experiences. You can't please all of the people all of the time, but fair debate or unbridled lunacy is always welcome. Give it a go...you can't lose anything. Except your house, your job, your significant other, your car, your life savings... Just kiddin' ![]() Regards Skoob. |

What do you like best about The Spoof?
What do you like least about it? What would you do to improve it? You know...stupid stuff! But it might be helpful to Mark in some ways to plan for the future. |

Nick - I hate it when furry mammalian antropoids die! What is the world coming to? We can't even write without killing something!

It has often been said that the pen is mightier than the sword, Ellie.
Even if that sword is a lightsabre. |
