We Brits love to yack endlessly on about the weather. Probably because we don't get too much of the good stuff.
The forecasters are saying that June is going to be hot and sunny. Is this a good thing? Or will it stop the trains and lead to gridlocked motorways? Anybody got any interesting plans? Regards Skoob. |

Wait what? Flaming? In June? Like 30 C or something?
That's great, I'm stuck indoors for 3 weeks, while the sun blasts its heat ray on my face, while I lose and use my knowledge of how the hell Hitler used propaganda and trigonometry (he didn't use trig. That's for something else). |

Brits! Wankers all - in the winter we get snow - we are unprepared for it.
June hellooo it's summer time it gets hot and all we can do is complain. Perhaps we are all farmers at heart they're always complaining. The Swiss get snow in winter but for them it's never the right kind for good skiing. Always complaining but Ive never seen a farmer or a Swiss riding a pushbike. The 8th of June I am going to have two days in a French medical establishment - of course it will be hot and sunny while they are trying (yet again) to fish out my kidney stones and it will rain when I get out. Don't kid yourselves - they have many of the same problems over here as we do in the UK with Health services. It's just catching up with them as is the pensions problem. Once recovered, Corsica is on the cards - 7-8h on Frog autoroutes to get to Toulon and then get the night ferry for 6h to Bastia and then another 2h drive to destination. Get there so knackered I spend the rest of the hols asleep. French autoroutes are a bugger in July and August when everyone goes away en masse. Furthermore if you want French cuisine you won''t find it in a motorway cafe. Anyway even though the route will be reasonably clear it's still bloody tiring driving all that way. It becomes worth it when one is sitting out under the heavens at night sipping something nice and cold from a glass with only the light of an oil lamp for company and watching the shooting stars do their annual stuff at the end of July and into August. Of course, it will probably bloody rain. |

I can agree with Lynton 10000000000%. I work with farmers everyday. They all moan. Too much rain, not enough rain, too hot, not hot enough. You name it. Whatever it does, it's not right.
Bastards. And I've never seen one riding a bicycle. Just hooning around in big arse Range Rovers and Land Rover Defenders. Top of the range of course, and all brand new. So times can't be that bad, huh? Bring on the summer, I say! As for plans, I've had my obligatory three days off this year. Went to Cornwall for the St.Austell brewery tour. Hit Skinners brewery too, and the Healey Cyder farm and a winery as well. All very interesting and fun. Not as pissed as you'd expect though. I was 'sensible'. Might have a day or two off in October too. S'mbirthday, don't you know. Other than that, WORK all the way. Thanks for asking.... |

Weather? Farmers in our area drive around in pick up trucks - some of them quite beaten up, and tractors (yes, on the roads out where I work). No big fancy vehicles out here. They have their priorities right it would seem.
They STILL moan about the weather though. One of our staff members, Ian, wrote on the blackboard in the Staffroom IF YOU WERE ONE OF THE PEOPLE MOANING ABOUT HOW COLD IT WAS IN WINTER THEN YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MOAN ABOUT HOW HOT IT IS IN SUMMER. I'm fine coz I don't mind the cold, I wrap up warmly. Therefore, I AM allowed to moan about the heat and humidity when in gets to over 30C and we have no air-conditioning in schools. LG |
