I was nearly mugged on Friday.
These two youths came up to me and asked for my phone, I said "no, I don't got one". Which was true, I had left it at home. I repeated my reply, again and again. They threatened to 'shag me with a knife', which was a terrifying prospect. I'm sure you don't give birth using a knife. Sex ed. isn't compulsory for nothing. Anyway, after realising I was telling the truth, they asked for my watch. To get the point straight, they are thick. They not only disbelieved my truth, but they wanted to screw me with a knife, and they have no sense of value. My watch was £7.99 from Argos. I was quite happy to give them my tatty old digital watch. Somehow, they managed to work out ethnic backgrounds and religion. They then said, "Are you <religion>?" I assumed that the worst could not happen and said I was. They nodded and smiled. "Are you <race>?" They were bricks. I said yes, very impatiently. They then proceeded to give me sign of equalness by not only giving my watch back, (to which I said, 'you sure?'), but offering me a 'safe' (a safe is a 'gansta'-style fistbump). I was that close to being raped with a knife. Weird fetish they have. |

Sheesh, that's scary and strange at the same time. I'm assuming this isn't one of your Spoofs.

Sorry about that, Inhopeless. If I'd have known it was you I wouldn't have bothered you. |

No... uhh... they wore baseball caps, and seemed like they were part of a gang. Actually, they did wear baggy jeans with arses hanging out, but that means you know every chav and gangsta wanna-be in the whole of metropolitan England.
Let me explain. Unlike in America, gangs have not so cool or original names. I.e., they use their postcodes. I'm serious. I live in Birmingham, so we have the B20 gang who attack the B21 gang. Where I live, is on the border between B5 and B12 (the city's postcodes are ordered in a spiral pattern), luckily for me, there is no B5 gang, because where I live is mostly commercial buildings and offices. And the B12 gang beat each other up in violent crimes - but so do most of the other B<postcode> gangs. In fact, most of these B<postcode> gangs don't even own a sqaure metre of a postcode. Some of them don't even live in those postcodes. To put it this way, the last time there was mass gang violence was when the IRA set off a couple of bombs near where my father lived in the 70s. Which was just down the road from where we live today, but that's besides the point. Actually, they wanted to 'shank' me. Not 'shag'. It makes more sense. (For those not in the know, to shank means to brutally stab someone). You know what? I hope the mighty deity of any religion burns them in whatever hellfire they subscribe to. Also, LG, if it was a Spoof, then 'Spoof would be stranger than fiction'. I'm sorry, I'll go shoot a bunny for that. |

Oh my dog! We THINK we are safe...but no-one in this world IS safe. I could be living next-door to an axe murderer.
Actually, a young man who moved, with his mam and dad and siblings, into a house on our street a number of years ago....who I met in a 'special' class for students with 'behavioural' problems when he was only 11....is NOW in prison for manslaughter. Another fella in town was jailed for GBH for 8 years, for battering a fella with a baseball bat over $80 owed for drugs. Yup! I live in a small town in Southern Ontario but it's not crime free. There is a High School, which I will not name, in a nearby small town which has both 'native Canadian' students and 'other' Canadian students....Gangs are present and they have POLICE present ALL DAY at this particular High School. It is so sad that this type of violence built on 'intolerance' is prevelant. The young man from our street (Canadian fella) killed a young Mennonite man who had a young wife and two little kids. Apparently - the Mennonite father was trespassing in his truck on someone's property ??????? drove into a 'dead end' and when he turned around....the young lad from our street was waiting for him with the owner of the property and chucked a brick at the truck, causing the young Mennonite father to lose control of his truck....ended up in a ditch...where he died. So sad. LG |

I know a head of a school in Aston. Aston is firstly - the home of Aston Villa, secondly, over 25km from me (and therefore Birmingham City Centre), and thirdly has a rep as a bad area.
The think is, he lives in Hagley - a small town in Wocestershire. He says that the jewellers there is almost always broken into, the banks been robbed, and there are often street fights. The cities do have bad crime. But it may be 10,000 incidents a week. But that's only 1 in 100,000 people or something. The smaller towns have maybe 1000 incidents a week, but a 1 in 10,000 rate. The stats don't lie. The people who present them do. |
