Let's get to the point. I need some help. I'm stuck for ideas.

My topic for Art is interesting numbers, and I've chosen 1995.

So, I need important events from 1995, and I need important people or things that were famous or important during the mid-90s.

I have already:
-Madonna
-Clinton
-New Labour (Formation of)
-PlayStation (worldwide premiere of)
-John Major (being elected)
-Toy Story (the worldwide premiere of)
-DVD (the invention of)
-O.J. Simpson trial

And that's it.

I need as many people and events and things as possible, by SUNDAY 27TH MARCH at the latest. My Art exam is on Monday and Tuesday.

Hi In...

I happen to have a book on trivia so here goes:

Top television shows:

Seinfeld
ER
Home Improvement
Friends
60 Minutes

April 19 - Oklahoma City Bombing killing 168 men women and children

April 30 - Clinton announces embargo against Iran to curtail development of nuclear weaponry

Sept 19 - NY Times and Washington Post print rambling manifesto by Unabomber, whose identity is still not known.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opened in Cleveland, Ohio.

400,000 black men go on the "million man march" to Washington, DC.

Best picture was Braveheart with Mel Gibson

Stalemate between Pres Clinton and Congress shuts down government

Shannon Hoon, lead singer of Blind Melon, died of an overdose.

Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead also passed away in 1995, as did Dean Martin.

Hope this helps a bit.

FRIENDS?! How could I miss that...

Can I ask ANOTHER favour from anyone willing to do so?

What techniques could I use? I've already thought about collages.

Thanks Charpa.

1995 represents the death of a 'challenging form' of popular culture.
After that date everything went namby-pamby.

You could represent this by finding a pretty ballerina and covering her (naked) body in all the names of (safe/shite) things from that year.

And then you could take her home with you and wash her off in the shower and.....well, the rest is up to you.

Yeah... JB, good idea, but the exam board are vapid losers with no soul.

The specification from OCR for Art says that they don't want fancy symbolism or whatever. They want shit that's fucking obvious and in your face.

And they're the 'best' exam board that are around - and I go to a good place.

Sent you a PM. Then I read the thread. Google 1990s-you will find more than you need.

I like the collage idea....how about doing it on a huge (as large as you wish) cube rather than on a plain flat surface....or on some other 3-D geometric solid as the base for the collage.

NO 3D. The exam boardstards are adamant I don't go beyond using either canvas, paper or 'conventional' methods. That's the only part I can understand about the specification. It's 40-odd pages long.

You can have a read here: The Art Spec: As Prescribed by the Soulless Board

I doubt you'll understand it as much as anyone does.

Ed.: Also, still need more 90s stuff. I've excavated Wikipedia, and Google is useless.

Go to YouTube and look for 1995 news and 1995 headline news stories. You'll come up with lots more stuff.

Also 1995 fashion trends
1995 hottest toys
1995 weather
1995 politics

that should get you some more stuff besides just Wiki.

Here's a thought...95 was when major changes to the internet came about with Windows 95. How about a series of windows with various 1995 milestones shown on them or something equally artistic.

For my art, I am doing a timeline of the year.

Except, it sort of funnels out, so Jan is smaller than Dec, which leaves a lot of space left over for general stuff about 1995, (e.g. Year of the Pig, UN Year of International Tolerance) and the famous people/groups/trends of the year in general.

Windows 95 was released in '94, but I'm sure I can worm that in. Those vapid losers at OCR don't know the difference between a tomato and a suspension bridge.

but it was called Windows 95.
Too bad the entire thing can't be satirical, or can it?

Inhopeless - shouldn't you be working on that ART exam rather than visiting us on site this weekend? I'm gonna have to talk to your mam and dad.....Consider yourself reprimanded.
