I've just been watching an interview with Saif Gaddafi in which he says that Libya is doing fine, and they haven't started bombing their civilians.

He sounded very convincing. He looks so normal.

What if he's telling the truth...and our News channels are lying to us?

If it is a media invention, that would be very 1984. Surely our noble press wouldn't make things up to keep us in the dark?

Or is he another "Comical Ali"?

Ah Comical Ali. Funniest Iraqi since Sadam. I remember him well.

I was sitting thinking about Saif as he sat and told everyone about how calm and peaceful his country is at the moment. I couldn't understand how he could say it so convincingly.

We all watch movies - well most of us do - there are some hellish good actors out there.

Heck! They had me believing men had walked on the moon when I was younger. How crazy is that?

I know. Moonwalking. How could we ever have believed that anyone could do that... except Michael Jackson.

If I was a Libyan and I was hearing Saif Gadaffi everyday, I'm not sure I wouldn't be taken in by him

Well, look. Saif is an amazing guy. He never lied to me. Why would he lie to all of us? Those pathetic news outlets are just trying to hurt my nice friend. "Freedom" this and "freedom" that. Honestly.

Colonel Gaddafi didn't walk on the moon, despite what his son says.
Jazz singer and bandleader Cab Calloway was the first, and he was accompanied by Michael Jackson. Gaddafi stayed in the command module, as he liked, even then, to be doing all the commanding.

It's a common misconception that Jackson was the first to moonwalk. Calloway was the first, and Jackson merely followed, as did others, such as mime artiste Marcel Marceau.

In fact, it was Marceau's mission (accompanied by David Bowie, with Lindsay Kemp in the command module on this occasion) that led to the conspiracy theories. People doubted the veracity of the film of Marcel doing his 'wind walk', since there is no wind on the moon.

But I digress.

I feel a letter to the editor coming on.

Do any of your remember the movie where the Mission to send men to Mars - faked in a big warehouse - went wrong coz the 'module' burned up on re-entry ...but the actors were still in the warehouse.....and were supposed to be killed - but escaped.....and chased....

"CAPRICORN ONE"

O.J. Simpson was one of those actors.

Oh....I used to shorten Orange Juice to OJ on shopping lists but just have not been able to do that since the 'incident' and I don't mean the movie.

People would think you were buying a pack of ethnic minority people in a supermarket? I know where you live is a few hours behind GMT, but I didn't realise by 200 years!

Good job the warehouse was empty.

Imagine trying to fake a trip to Mars in a warehouse full of tomato soup.

Maybe that's why it's called the red planet.

I'm sure Saif Gaddafi's people think he went to the moon. Its the type of thing he might tell them.

And yes, I think it was good that the warehouse was empty. No one would believe their were tins of tomato soup on the moon.

Thank you for your reply. It helps to know that I am not just talking nonsense.

Or that others are talking the same nonsense.

Or something.

Excellent usage of the English Language, Lady G. All the words are in the correct place, but not necessarily with the correct meaning. Excellent.

Speaking of Gadaffi, I was watching a video of Hitler giving a speech,(I'm helping my brother with his history, okay?) and I noticed that Hitler's body language and movement is similar to that of Col Gadaffi.

Hmmm....

Hello Mr Quint. I think I've just approved one of yours. It was a very excellent Alan Bennet style piece about Moon Walking. Enjoyed it very much. It got five stars from me before it was even published.

I never thought Hitler was funny. He was a good performer, I'll give him that.

Stalin had better jokes. More dead pan. Hitler was a big ham, really.

I always thought the audiences were being told to laugh and cheer.

Churchill could be a good turn, if he'd been on the drink. He looked funny. Hitler just looked wierd, like a lunatic. A scary one, not a funny one.

Mao, well, that's another story. With Mao, it was all in the costume. He......(contd. page 97)

You're saying all the right things. I didn't have Alan Bennett in mind, but that's an interesting angle, thanks.

I approved one of yours too. I know it was yours because your name was on it. About Noel Fielding. I saw that last night. I thought he was more like Kate Bush than Kate Bush.

I wanted Lulu to win, though the tap dancing and Kate Bush were good.

He was great, wasn't he. I've popped him up on my facebook site if anyone wants to re-live the joy.

I enjoyed your peice. It was only slightly like Alan Bennet, though. Yours was funnier.
