That is amazing.

My way of getting out of my speeding ticket was not as sophisticated. I had no licence with me either...I stepped out of my car, frantically searching my purse, acting like a crazy lady, pill bottles flying, told the cop I was late for my 'counsellors' appointment ('twas really my hairdressers' appt.).

He 'calmed me down'. Went to his cruiser, came back saying I didn't HAVE a drivers licence...I 'lost it'...not my drivers' licence, I mean, my 'cool'.....he asked me if I'd been married before coz my name wasn't showing up on his computer....I was appalled...married to the same fella for 42 years.

I think this is where he began 'folding'...42 years!!!! Asked me where I was coming from....told him the name of the school I taught at.....'he continued to fold'.....he checked the computer again and spelled out my name this time......they found me.

Wow! I should have received an Oscar for that. I did get a small fine for not having my licence but saved the BIG one for speeding. He was very nice to me by the way.

For some apparent reason, my mother never gets caught speeding. My father does, yet he's the safer driver.

My mother drove at 110mph (YES. 110mph) down an A-ROAD for 1 and half hours. My dad drove 35mph in a 30mph zone and got a fine. Somehow, I think that its not only car insurance that's biased against men.

I don't drive. I can't afford it.

I've been in Canada 28+ years...what's an A Road?

Wow...110 mph. The fastest I've gone is l50-155 km per hour before the car started to 'shake'....and I shook too!

I must get a 'better car'...

A-roads are principle roads in a British traffic system. They are similar to North American avenues in that most are high-capacity roads designed for carrying lots of traffic. You find a high density of A-roads within major urban areas, however some A-roads are ring roads (or beltways), or as lower-capacity equivilents of motorways (highways or freeways) when heading off motorways in rural areas.

155km/h?! That's nearly 100mph (for those not versed in the system of metric)! How old is your car? Modern cars can (including small cars and superminis) can reach 140mph (224km/h) if you push them.

Duh! I DID know what an Aroad was after all.....A1 A6 etc.

My car will reach higher speeds, but it shakes...

It's a ten-year old Toyota Carolla but is very different to the style seen in Britain. Most of OUR cars still have BOOTS (TRUNKS). Seems all the cars over 'ome are 'hatch-backs'....

That's pretty worrying if it's a 10yr Carolla. The mechanics here rip you off (don't know about you), but nonetheless have you checked it out?

I CAN'T complain coz I'm not supposed to be going that bloody fast. My car is regularly serviced at the dealership.

The mechanics would slap my hand if I mentioned going so fast and my husband would probably take away my keys

See - I'm in a pickle. I'll not 'push my luck'. The car may be shaking when I reach a certain high speed coz I'm panicking and jiggling the steering-wheel...lol lol lol

Huh. My mother doesn't bat an eyelid when she hits 95, and I'm praying in the shotgun seat that my body won't hit the window or worse - get the car confiscated.
