Why isn't he a general?
He just has to give himself the title. |

..well, he thought about it,but if but realized if he promoted himself There wasn't any more room on his uni to put the medals that go with the promotion...a matter of practicality I imagine... But as IM pointed out, he'll get a general's funeral! M, |

Just read where he is attempting to blow up his oil fields. Better fill your car. Gas prices, grocery prices jumping here. Pretty much a civil war in Libya now. May keep spreading in the area. |

They only supply 2% of global oil, 28% for Italy.
Seems over rated. |

Doesn't Canada have a huge amount of oil in Alberta and somewhere else???? What's the fuss???
I know nothing about politics - just about gas/petrol prices. Ours is still half the price of what my brothers pay in N.E. England. I can't figure this out myself.... LG |

You're spot on there Bureau. Democracy in the Middle East and North Africa means elected governments who won't be amicably disposed to the West. Their people want rid of the likes of Gaddafi and Mubarak because they were too cosy with the West. Expect Jordan to follow soon, and Algeria - the domino effect. If it boils up in Saudi Arabia - we're all in deep doo-doo. Skoob. |

Yup - for the West, dictators keeping things orderly, dictators who we can keep on our side - those are the preferred options, given our dependence on the energy sources.
Our lifestyle demands it. |

It is a good thing we're stepping out of these crises. However, is that for an ulterior motive? If we do step in and help the protest, effectively we are barricading ourselves, right? However, because we're on the sidelines, the fact that the despots somehow have weapons - somehow - and they win, we could be like 'oh, what a shame!'
To be honest, we need to stop being greedy. These people deserve freedom, and I don't give a damn if petrol jumps up to £1.20/litre. That's pretty good value-for-money, I think. Besides, we need to stop relying on foreign oil and gas. Otherwise we could head into a Maltus Proposition. |
